Woolwork embroidery, square piece intended for a cushion cover. Donors estimate is around 1850.
Original colors have faded. The background colors on the original are red, dark red, blueish green. The chart is done in red and dark red only, because the blueish green looked horrible when applied to the chart. Probably the original shade was different from that on the DMC palette.

Beaded bag No. 1
Den Haan & Wagenmakers, Edam
|
Pattern for a knitted bag with beading, also suitable for cross-stitch. A parrot sitting on a fence looking down at a dog. The top of the bag has a floral border which can be used independently. The bottom of the bag is a floral design with three red flowers, and blue leaves on a lighter blue background.
The middle pattern has an error; the pillar behind the dogs tail does not run all the way to the bottom. Also, the mountain in the background is cut off rather abruptly. Probably this is an adaption of a larger pattern, that has been cropped to suit the dimensions of the bag.
From the Collection DHW, "35 Breipatronen van antieke kralentassen", published with permission of Wim Wagenmakers en Rudolf den Haan, edited and charted by Sytske Wijnsma.

Narrow beading pattern
|
Narrow panel, probably for a towel rack. Originally the background was an allover bright red, but probably that was not included in the original pattern. A two color background, light in the centre and darker in the background, matches similar patterns, and blue contrasts better with the brown color range of the motif. Of course, suit your own taste.
We have no permission to include the original images (asked, but never received an answer).

Chart only. A magnificent square embroidered frame, in the middle a rather small bouquet. This pattern occurred on two ebay items, but we could not secure permission from either seller to show the originals. This pattern has been reworked so the frame is symmetrical and the bouquet has been adapted to fit properly. We've picked two shades of blue as background; feel free to choose your own.
