A well-known book about Armenian knotted lace, starting with a simple tutorial, progressing to beautiful doilies, edgings, and even lace flowers. Armenian lace and the other knotted laces around the Mediterranian show a strong family resemblance when it comes to techniques, but the Armenian products are completely recognizable as Armenian.

A facsimile reprint of De Recami Et Dessegni Opera Nova, a Venetian lace design modelbook from 1558. The German prologue mentions 38 pages of patterns, but there are only 37. We compared the photographs to another copy in the Royal Library in the Hague, and that one had exactly the same 37 pages. Basic techniques for making Arabian knotted lace. Mediterranian knotted lace exists in many variations, this book focuses on the lace made in Tunisia. The base is two rows of stitches and the lace is knotted between those rows. Originally used to join pieces of fabric when making clothing, then expanding to decorative uses. 30 pages not including covers (uncommon size, page 15/16 was a single sheet).
