A facsimile reprint of De Recami Et Dessegni Opera Nova, a Venetian lace design modelbook from 1558. The German prologue mentions 38 pages of patterns, but there are only 37. We compared the photographs to another copy in the Royal Library in the Hague, and that one had exactly the same 37 pages. Multicolor, wide, charted pattern sheet, with three patterns: two all-over repeats, plus a small oval motif of an outoor covered terrace or gazebo. It's one of the few patterns printed in the Netherlands. No date is known, but it looks like the patterns in the first half of the nineteenth century. Suitable for Berlin woolwork, cross-stitch, needlepoint, or beading. Includes modern recharting and DMC color key.
